Assuming that the readers know the Devanagari alphabet well the lessons below are prepared.

The word राम comprises of the letters र्+आ+म्+अ. These are the four constituents of the word राम.

The last letter in it is अ. Hence, the word राम ends in अ. Therefore, the word राम is classified as अ-कारान्तः (literally - word ending in अ). Naturally, as many letters so many endings may be assumed. Hence, the word, for the sake of forming paradigms, are classified as - ending in अ, आ, इ, ई etc
